Tennessee SB0531 mandates the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to classify sexual offenders and notify them of their classification.
Tennessee SB0531 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 40, to require the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) to classify individuals required to register as sexual offenders, violent sexual offenders, or violent juvenile sexual offenders. The TBI can use investigative reports, files from United States attorneys, district attorneys, court records, or other credible information to make these classifications. The TBI must then notify the offender of their classification. This act takes effect upon becoming law.
