Tennessee SB0428 amends state laws to ensure non-opioid pain treatments are fairly considered in insurance plans. Insurers must ensure non-opioid drugs are not disadvantaged on preferred drug lists and must reimburse healthcare prescribers for non-opioid treatments. Hospitals providing non-opioid treatments are also to be reimbursed separately under group insurance plans. This act applies to drugs approved by the FDA for pain treatment or management.
