SB0416

AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49, relative to virtual schools.

Complete·5/15/25

Tennessee SB0416 mandates virtual schools to use curriculum meeting state academic standards, with evaluation by the state textbook commission.

Tennessee SB0416 amends the state's education code to ensure all virtual schools use curriculum and instructional materials that meet or exceed the academic standards adopted by the state board of education. The state textbook and instructional materials quality commission must establish a procedure to receive and evaluate feedback from residents regarding virtual school curriculum. If the commission finds that a virtual school's curriculum does not meet the academic standards, it must determine this within 60 days and notify the local educational agency operating the virtual school.
