Tennessee SB0280 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 29 and Title 39, to provide immunity for law enforcement officers from civil liability for property damage or personal injury caused during official duties if the injured party was engaged in conduct resulting in a conviction under § 39-16-602 at the time of the incident. This immunity does not apply if the officer's actions were grossly negligent or involved willful misconduct. Additionally, it does not extend to bystanders or others not involved in such conduct. The act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
