SB0275 amends Tennessee Code to change budget processes for certain county officers in charter counties.
SB0275 modifies Tennessee law to require the offices of sheriff, register, county clerk, assessor of property, and trustee in charter counties to independently develop and submit their budgets directly to the county legislative body. These offices must follow the approved budget in total and line item detail, with the exception of transfers within personnel and operational-maintenance categories. The county legislative body cannot impose personnel or operational maintenance restrictions on these offices. The act takes effect upon becoming law.
