Tennessee SB0271 prohibits certain officials from acting as professional bondsmen.
Tennessee SB0271 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 40, to make it unlawful for a person to act as a professional bondsman while serving as a constitutionally elected peace officer, a deputy of such officer, or any duly elected or appointed county official. It also prohibits those owning, operating, or employed by a qualified contract service provider from acting as a bondsman. This prohibition does not apply to duly elected members of the county legislative body. The act takes effect July 1, 2025.
