Tennessee SB0252 amends the criminal injuries compensation law to adjust the maximum award based on the national average.

Tennessee SB0252 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 29-13-106, to adjust the maximum award for criminal injuries compensation. The state treasurer must compare Tennessee's maximum award limit with the national average every three years, starting January 1, 2026. If Tennessee's maximum award is less than 105% of the national average, it must be adjusted to at least 105% of the national average, rounded up to the nearest $100. The adjusted maximum award must be published on the Department of Treasury website by March 1 of the comparison year.
