Presumption against personal recognizance release for firearm-related offenses or those causing serious bodily injury or death.

This bill amends Tennessee law to establish a presumption against releasing a defendant on personal recognizance if the defendant is charged with an offense involving a firearm or resulting in serious bodily injury or death. The presumption can be rebutted if the magistrate includes written findings for each factor listed in the bail order. The changes take effect July 1, 2025.
