Allows Tennessee municipalities to hire certified public accountants as contracted certified municipal finance officers.
This bill amends Tennessee law to allow municipalities to contract with certified public accountants to perform the duties of a certified municipal finance officer. The contracted officer must work at least 16 hours per month unless the comptroller of the treasury grants a one-year waiver. The municipality must reapply for the waiver annually. The change takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
