Complete·5/27/26

Amends the town of Jonesborough's election schedule for Mayor and Aldermen.

This bill amends the election schedule for the town of Jonesborough, altering the terms and election cycles for the Mayor and Aldermen. The Mayor's term is reduced to two years, with elections held every two years in August, starting in 2028. Two Aldermen will be elected every four years, also in August, beginning in 2030. The bill also specifies that no person can run for both Mayor and Alderman in the same election and mandates that a sitting Alderman must resign before running for Mayor. The changes require approval by a two-thirds vote of Jonesborough's legislative body.
