The bill amends the charter of the City of Springfield to prohibit nepotism by banning relatives of elected city officials, the city manager, and city employees from being hired or employed by the city. The definition of "relative" includes a broad range of family members who reside in the same household. The act requires approval by a two-thirds vote of the legislative body of the City of Springfield and will become effective upon proclamation by the presiding officer and certification to the secretary of state.
