At the time of application or renewal, staff must ask applicants if they wish to obtain a REAL ID compliant driver license or a non-REAL ID compliant license. Applicants must be provided with a printed document detailing the differences, including required documents, uses, and alternative forms of identification. The department's website must also indicate that obtaining a REAL ID compliant driver license is optional. This act takes effect July 1, 2026.
