Tennessee HB2489 amends Title 49, Chapter 2 of Tennessee Code Annotated to modify severance pay provisions for directors of schools. If a school board terminates a director without cause, the board may offer severance pay not exceeding the director's annual salary at the time of termination. If the termination is with cause, the board must not offer severance pay. The act takes effect July 1, 2025, and applies to contracts entered into or renewed on or after that date.
