Tennessee HB2296 mandates global positioning monitoring for defendants arrested for certain offenses as a bail condition.

HB2296 requires courts to order global positioning monitoring for defendants arrested for offenses involving firearms, serious bodily injury, domestic assault, burglary, reckless driving, and drag racing. This applies unless the court finds the defendant no longer poses a threat. The court must also order monitoring for aggravated assault against domestic abuse victims. The clerk of each court must report monthly on defendants under such orders, and the administrative office of the courts must compile an annual report.
