HB2213

Tennessee HB2213 amends employer retaliation laws to protect employees from retaliation for reporting unsafe conditions, wage theft, or labor.

Tennessee HB2213 revises the state's employer retaliation laws, specifically addressing protections for employees who report unsafe working conditions, wage theft, or other labor violations. The bill shifts the burden of proof in civil cases to the plaintiff, who must establish a prima facie case of retaliation. Employers are prohibited from discharging, terminating, demoting, or reporting an employee's immigration status due to these reports. Successful employees can seek reinstatement, back-pay, court costs, and attorney fees.
