Tennessee HB2020 amends food safety regulations to exempt certain volunteer-run food services from licensing requirements.
Tennessee HB2020 modifies the definition of "Food service establishment" to exclude churches, temples, synagogues, and other religious institutions, as well as civic, fraternal, or veteran's organizations, when food is handled by volunteers. This exemption does not apply to the storage of unopened, commercially canned food, packaged bulk food that is not potentially hazardous, and dry goods. The act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
