Complete·5/4/26

Tennessee HB1974 mandates removal of a student from classes or activities if they are named in an order of protection protecting another student.

Tennessee HB1974 amends state law to require the removal of a student named as the respondent in an order of protection from any shared classroom or school-sponsored event or activity with the protected student. The school must provide alternative instruction to the removed student for the duration of the order. This applies to orders of protection issued to protect a student from another student enrolled in the same public school.
