Tennessee law amendment to prevent pharmacy benefits managers from owning or controlling pharmacies.
The Tennessee law amendment, known as the "Freedom, Access, and Integrity in Registered Pharmacy (FAIR Rx) Act," prohibits pharmacy benefits managers from owning or controlling pharmacies. It defines "pharmacy benefits manager" and "control" and mandates that pharmacy license applicants and holders disclose ownership information. The Board of Pharmacy must assess licenses and notify holders of potential violations. The board can impose penalties for violations and issue subpoenas for enforcement.
