Tennessee HB1951 amends the state's criminal code by adding a new offense of coercive suicide. This offense occurs when a person intentionally advises or encourages another to commit or attempt suicide within an imminent period of time, knowing the other person has communicated an intent to commit suicide. Additionally, the bill criminalizes the misuse of generative artificial intelligence systems that encourage suicide. A violation of this section is classified as a Class D felony. The act takes effect on July 1, 2026.
