Complete·5/26/26

HB1891 allows Tennessee drivers charged with speeding to take a driver education course instead of paying a fine.

HB1891 amends Tennessee law to let drivers charged with speeding register for a department-approved driver education course through the court clerk. If the driver completes the course within 90 days of conviction, up to five points can be removed from their driving record. The court clerk must ensure online registration is available on their website. The changes take effect July 1, 2026.
