Introduced·1/21/26

Tennessee HB1848 amends the state's insurance code to ensure Medicare supplement policies are available to non-age eligible persons.

Tennessee HB1848 amends the state's insurance code to ensure Medicare supplement policies are available to non-age eligible persons, defined as those under 65 years old who are eligible for Medicare due to disability or end-stage renal disease. Insurers must offer these policies to non-age eligible persons who enroll in Medicare Part B. The bill prohibits insurers from charging more than the weighted average aged premium rate to non-age eligible persons and mandates that these policies have no waiting periods or preexisting condition limitations. The changes take effect January 1, 2027.
