HB1827

AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 5; Title 6; Title 7; Title 13 and Title 68, relative to local government approval.

Introduced·1/21/26

Tennessee HB1827 requires local legislative approval for quarry and digital asset mining facilities, with public notice requirements.

Tennessee HB1827 amends state law to mandate that local legislative bodies must approve the location of any quarry or digital asset mining facility in a public meeting. This applies to all counties and cities, including those with a metropolitan form of government. The bill requires at least 21 days' notice of the meeting, published in a local newspaper, posted on the local legislative body's website, and displayed at three locations near the proposed site. Residents within 500 yards of the proposed location must also be notified by first-class mail.
