Tennessee HB1816 amends mental health guidelines for correctional and law enforcement personnel.

Tennessee HB1816 amends mental health guidelines for correctional and law enforcement personnel. It requires the board to adopt guidelines and materials for emergency and nonemergency involuntary admissions to inpatient treatment. Correctional personnel must undergo annual training on these guidelines. Similarly, the Tennessee peace officer standards and training (POST) commission must adopt guidelines for law enforcement officers, who must also undergo annual training. The act takes effect July 1, 2027.
