Tennessee HB1718 amends state code to require a study on equipping correctional officers and contractors with body cameras in adult correctional.

Tennessee HB1718 mandates the Department of Correction to study the costs associated with equipping correctional officers and employees of prison contractors with body cameras in adult correctional facilities. These facilities must be located on public property housing inmates under the custody of the department and in counties with a metropolitan form of government and a population of at least eleven thousand six hundred. The department must report its findings to the relevant committee chairs by July 1, 2026.
