Tennessee HB1689 amends Tennessee Code to allow POST-certified or state-commissioned law enforcement officers to impound vehicles suspected of being used in drag racing. The impoundment can last up to 72 hours. The owner must be notified and can request a hearing. If the impoundment is not supported by probable cause, the owner can be reimbursed or the vehicle released. The act also includes provisions for severability and effective date.
