Tennessee HB1295 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 39, by adding a new section that makes it an offense to interfere with the lawful receipt of loans, grants, or financial assistance by individuals or entities from federal, state, or local governments. This interference, if done with intent to deprive the individual or entity of the funds, is punishable as theft. Additionally, victims of such offenses can pursue a civil action to recover the funds they did not receive due to the interference. The act takes effect July 1, 2025.
