Tennessee HB1241 amends state law to redefine "lethal fetal anomaly" and conditions under which abortion is permissible.
Tennessee HB1241 amends Tennessee Code Annotated to redefine "lethal fetal anomaly" as a fetal condition diagnosed before the twenty-fourth week of pregnancy that is incompatible with life outside the womb, will not improve with medical intervention, and will result in the death of the fetus upon birth or shortly thereafter. The bill also modifies the conditions under which an abortion can be performed, including when a physician determines that the abortion is necessary to prevent the death of the pregnant woman or to prevent serious risk of substantial and irreversible impairment of a major.
