Amends criminal offenses by adding new offenses for unauthorized control of motor vehicles and possession of stolen firearms. It is an offense to knowingly obtain or exercise control over a motor vehicle without the owner's consent, punishable as theft or a Class E felony. It is also an offense to possess a firearm known or reasonably suspected to be stolen, with a Class A misdemeanor penalty. The affirmative defenses in § 39-14-107 may be asserted in a prosecution for a violation of the firearm possession offense. The act takes effect July 1, 2025.
