Tennessee HB1168 modifies existing laws regarding autonomous driving systems (ADS) to allow ADS-operated vehicles to drive without a human driver present, except for those used to transport property or passengers for hire. For such vehicles, a human driver must be present, monitoring the vehicle, able to intervene, and holding a valid driver's license. The changes take effect July 1, 2025.
