Introduced·2/5/25

Tennessee HB1117 amends educator licensure rules to create an alternative instructional leader license.

Tennessee HB1117 amends the state's educator licensure rules to allow the state board of education to issue an alternative instructional leader license. This license is for candidates who hold an advanced degree, have three years of leadership experience in specific educational settings, and pass an assessment. The license is valid for four years and is not renewable. After holding this license for four years, the holder becomes eligible for a standard instructional leader license. The act also allows the state board to create other pathways for obtaining an instructional leader license.
