Tennessee HB0981 amends existing marijuana laws to decriminalize possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and casual exchanges of up to one-tenth of an ounce. Municipalities and counties can impose civil penalties for these activities. The bill also increases the threshold for marijuana possession to be considered an offense from one-half ounce to one ounce. The changes take effect on July 1, 2025.
