HB0948

Tennessee HB0948 amends firearms dispossession laws, requiring respondents to surrender firearms within 48 hours and submit a receipt to the court.

Tennessee HB0948 amends several sections of the Tennessee Code Annotated to revise firearms dispossession procedures. It mandates that respondents surrender any firearms within 48 hours to a designated law enforcement agency and submit a receipt to the court within three business days. The law enforcement agency must issue a receipt identifying all surrendered firearms and retain a copy. The administrative office of the courts is tasked with developing an affidavit of firearms dispossession form, which can be obtained by the defendant from the court or its website.
