Tennessee HB0861 amends Title 49, Chapter 10 and Title 49, Chapter 6 of the Tennessee Code to enhance special education processes. The act mandates that Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) notify parents or guardians of students at least ten days before an IEP meeting, ensuring they have an opportunity to attend. LEAs must also provide parents with all evaluations and assessments of the student, and a copy of the draft IEP, if created, at least 48 hours before the meeting, unless the parent declines in writing.
