Complete·4/28/25

Tennessee HB0860 amends funeral director and embalmer licensing requirements to allow educational credits to substitute for apprenticeship hours.

Tennessee HB0860 modifies the licensing requirements for funeral directors and embalmers by allowing applicants to substitute educational credits for apprenticeship hours. Specifically, completing 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in funeral service education from an accredited school can replace one year of apprenticeship. Additionally, an associate degree or equivalent educational program can replace one year of apprenticeship. The bill also allows applicants to complete the second year of apprenticeship concurrently in a single calendar year.
