Complete·3/16/26

Tennessee HB0796 amends utility infrastructure regulations to allow customers to use private contractors and limits utility review fees.

Tennessee HB0796 amends the state's utility infrastructure regulations by allowing customers to use private contractors for installation, rather than requiring the utility to do so. The bill also limits the fee a utility can charge for reviewing plans and designs to no more than $1,000. If the utility fails to review within 30 days or charges more than $1,000, the plans and designs are deemed approved if certified by a licensed engineer. The act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
