This bill amends Tennessee law to create a new category of armed security officers called enhanced armed guards. To qualify, applicants must either have five years of law enforcement experience or four years of military experience in a combat arms specialty. They must also pass a criminal background check, psychological evaluation, written exam, and complete a 16-hour training course. The enhanced armed guard certification expires after one year and requires renewal with an annual background check.
