Tennessee HB0300 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 38, Title 40, and Title 55, Chapter 10, to address the issue of license plate flippers. Under the new law, a motor vehicle found with an installed license plate flipper may be seized or impounded by a law enforcement officer as evidence. If the owner or operator is present, they must be given the chance to remove the flipper safely. If the flipper is removed, only the device can be seized as contraband. If the vehicle is impounded, the owner is responsible for towing and impounding fees and costs to remove the flipper.
