Complete·5/13/25

Tennessee HB0073 restricts the Tennessee Historical Commission and other state entities from approving structural changes to historic properties.

Tennessee HB0073 amends state law to limit the Tennessee Historical Commission and other state entities from approving or recommending the renovation, alteration, or demolition of structural design elements of historic properties. These properties must be listed on the Tennessee Register of Historic Places. The bill also prohibits these entities from taking adverse action against property owners, including fines. The Tennessee Historical Commission is still allowed to approve changes to aesthetics, non-structural elements, and building design elements of historic properties.
