Introduced Text

Extends motor vehicle and motorcycle licensing fee benefits to spouses of disabled veterans in South Dakota.

South Dakota SB173 amends the state's motor vehicle licensing law to allow the spouse of a disabled veteran to obtain standard issue county motor vehicle or motorcycle license plates in lieu of disabled veteran plates. This change extends the same fee benefits currently available to disabled veterans to their spouses. The bill specifies that the disabled veteran or their spouse must meet certain requirements to qualify for these plates.
