South Dakota SB124 prohibits the manufacture, sale, and distribution of any product containing cell-cultured protein from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2036. A violation of this prohibition is a Class 2 misdemeanor. The Department of Agriculture may inspect food service establishments for violations and issue stop-sale orders if necessary. Products found in violation may be seized and condemned by the circuit court. The bill also allows for the suspension, revocation, or denial of meat processing licenses for violators.
