Changes the timing for conducting the canvass of an election in South Dakota.

South Dakota HB1316 revises the timing for conducting the canvass of an election. It mandates that the canvass of votes must occur at nine a.m. local time on the first Tuesday following the election, within six calendar days after the close of the election. The Board of State Canvassers must open and examine the returns from each county within seven days after the election day, at nine a.m. central time on the second Tuesday following the election. The bill also allows for the board to adjourn for up to ten days to obtain returns from each county if necessary.
