Permits technical college employees to join the state health plan.

South Dakota HB1279 allows technical college employees to join the state health plan. The human resources commissioner may include a flexible benefit plan allowing employees to choose their benefits or levels of coverage. Technical college employees who work at least 20 hours a week for six months a year can participate. The local educational agency (LEA) contributes to the system an amount equivalent to the monthly contribution provided by the state for other plan-eligible employees. This Act is effective beginning July 1, 2027.
