South Dakota HB1277 mandates compliance with National Fire Protection Association standards for campgrounds and their additions or modifications.

South Dakota HB1277 requires that any existing or newly constructed campground, or any permanent addition, alteration, or modification to an existing structure in a campground, comply with the National Fire Protection Association 1194, Standard for Recreational Vehicle Parks and Campgrounds, 2026 Edition. This mandate applies unless the campground is owned or operated by the state or a political subdivision. The Act takes effect starting July 1, 2027.
