South Dakota HB1228 establishes a stipend for National Guard members who donate an organ for transplantation. The Department of the Military must pay a stipend to the member based on their recovery time. For a recovery time of two weeks or less, the stipend is fifty percent of the member's active-duty basic monthly pay. For a recovery time of more than two weeks, the stipend is one hundred fifty percent of the member's active-duty basic monthly pay.
