Expands the list of mandatory reporters of suspected child abuse or neglect in South Dakota.

South Dakota HB1216 revises the list of mandatory reporters of suspected child abuse or neglect. The bill adds several new professions to the list, including emergency medical technicians, paramedics, mental health professionals, counselors, podiatrists, psychologists, religious healing practitioners, chemical dependency counselors, dental hygienists, and others. Any person in these roles who suspects a child under eighteen has been abused or neglected must report it. Failure to report is a Class 1 misdemeanor.
