The bill amends South Dakota law to prohibit operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile electronic device. Exceptions include using the device for emergency purposes, such as contacting 911 or reporting a crime, and using a global positioning or navigation system feature if the device is not manually operated. The bill also exempts the use of a mobile electronic device while driving agricultural equipment not designed to exceed twenty-five miles per hour.
