Expands the definition of "hospital" to include Rural Emergency Hospitals.
This bill amends the South Carolina Code of Laws to redefine "hospital" to include all hospitals that convert to Rural Emergency Hospitals. These hospitals must be organized and administered to provide overnight medical or surgical care and nursing care for illnesses, injuries, or infirmities. They must also provide on-campus emergency services and may provide obstetrical care. The bill takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
