South Carolina bill S0733 prohibits state agencies, political subdivisions, and entities supported by public funds from hosting or allowing the hosting of drag story hours or other drag shows attended by minors under the age of eighteen. The bill defines a drag story hour as a program where drag performers read children's books before an audience including minors. It also imposes a civil fine of $500 per attendee for violations and allows parents or legal guardians to file private actions against offending institutions. The act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
