The bill amends South Carolina law to require a more frequent review of retired judges' qualifications for continued judicial service. Specifically, it mandates that a retired judge must be reviewed by the South Carolina Judicial Merit Selection Commission within four years of their appointment. However, if a judge retired within two years before the expiration of their term, no further review is required until that term would have expired. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
