Introduced·4/1/25
Introduced Text

Allows municipal court judges to transfer retirement credits to the Police Officers Retirement System.

The bill amends the South Carolina Code to allow municipal court judges to transfer their credited service from the South Carolina Retirement System to the South Carolina Police Officers Retirement System. Judges can make this transfer from July 1, 2025, to January 1, 2026, by paying accumulated employer and employee contributions, interest, and an additional five percent of their annual salary for each year of service. After January 1, 2026, municipal judges may still elect to transfer their credits, subject to the same payment terms.
